Bike Tune-up Events are a Hit: Updated
Like everyone else, during this Time of Covid here at ForestPlanet we have postponed any indoor events, including film screenings or our popular dance parties. We hope everyone keeps safe for the time being, as all of this shall pass and soon we be able to assemble and celebrate.
That said, we have been creative about producing safe outdoor activities, including our first electronics recycle event that past August. We think it’s important to Do Something, anything, to keep the word out there regarding the importance of reforestation to the world’s climate, soil, and social stability. To that end, we’re glad to report that we’ve now successfully produced two Bike Tune-up events here in the Washington, DC area.
Working with our long-time partner Ecoprint, we’ve had two free community bike tune-up events that were warmly received. The weather has cooperated both times, and of course masks were required. Special thanks to our bike techs for their efficient work and helping to keep people rolling: Eric’s Mobile Workshop and Aedan’s Spokeman Mobile Bike Repair.
Thanks also to Security Public Storage in Bethesda, MD for allowing us to set up shop at their location, right next to the Capital Crescent Trail at Neal Potter Plaza.
It’s important that we all find ways to keep active and healthy during this time, and bike riding has seen a surge in popularity. We here are ForestPlanet have enjoyed meeting plenty of interesting people during these events, and look forward to repeating this success in the months and years to come.

UPDATE: We were glad to produce our fifth bike tune-up event in November 14th in Bethesda, MD, and this time with the generous support of Blume Honey Water. Free sample were given out to people who stopped by, over 30 bikes got tuned up, Security Public Storage was glad to host us once again, and everyone went away happy. Weather permitting, we’ll do it all again soon!
