Encore E-recycle Event at Audi Field in Washington, DC on October 24th, 2021 – *Updated*
Our inaugural Drive-Through Electronics Recycling Event to Plant Trees held in 2020 was a big success. We’re happy to announce an encore to be held in Washington, DC, at Audi Field on October 24th, 2021. Special thanks to D.C. United for hosting this event, and to Audi of America for helping support this initiative as part of Sustainability Week.
Pre-registration is greatly encouraged!
There is a nominal per-item disposal fee charged by our R2 certified e-disposal vendor, e.g., $4.50 per laptop. This fee guarantees that a significant amount of mercury and other dangerous materials will never end up in a landfill or burned on some distant shore. A full pricelist can be found here.
Please note: R2 standards require that hard-drives undergo physical destruction (shredding) to guarantee data security, or a three-pass data wipe using Department of Defense certified software.
At our first e-cycling event, people brought in multiple pallets of unwanted electronics–including computers, monitors, printers, televisions, and other items– for proper disposal. With your help, we hope to repeat this success and raise funds to plant at least 10,000 trees where they are needed the most.
Thanks very much to our sponsoring businesses, including Ecoprint/More Vang, The Rounds, Utility Advisor, and Wiseguy Pizza for feeding our crew.
We look forward to seeing you on October 24th!
**UPDATE**
We had perfect weather for an electronics recycling event on October 24th, and a brief video of the day’s activities can be seen here. Thanks again to D.C. United for hosting the event at LEED Gold Certified Audi Field. We collected multiple pallets of items and raised enough funds to plant 15,000 trees!
We’ll do this again soon!
